On Friday 11 March 2005, twelve men and women from bbpositive will be taking part in a variety of fundraising activities ranging from the Project Manager wearing her Pyjamas to work all day, Simon offering a sponsored shoulder massage and two volunteers are doing a sponsored “kissathon”. Joy, a local qualified therapist, is even waxing a number of men’s hairy bits e.g. chest, legs and so on!
This hair raising (literally) activity, will take place at bbpositive this Friday evening at its premises in Union Street. bbpositive will raise money for the for the tenth Red Nose Day, which raises cash to help tackle poverty and social injustice, both in the UK and Africa.
This is the first time that bbpositive have raised money for Red Nose Day Relief. A large percentage of bbpositive clients are of African origin so there is a strong affiliation between the work of Comic Relief in Africa and our work here at Bedfordshire Body Positive
Chrissie Matthews, Project Manager says, “Comic Relief highlights issues surrounding HIV/Aids such as stigma and discrimination, in Africa and the UK. Bbpositive welcomes the self help and collaborative approach of Comic Relief in meeting the needs of communities and individuals facing the challenge of HIV/AIDS in a variety of settings”
